Whether you’d call yourself a Christian or not, whatever your background, whatever age or stage – you are welcome. We are a church family made up of people coming from Salford, Manchester and beyond – ordinary people wanting to glorify and enjoy our glorious God.
As followers of Jesus, we want our church to look a lot like Christian churches have always looked, with an open Bible and prayer at the heart of everything we do, Sunday worship services as a focus of our church life, and seeking to share our lives with one another throughout the week. Leadership
Church planter and Minister
Will Allan is the minister of Hope Church. He’s married to Mary with 5 children and has been ministering up in Aberdeen for the past 6 years. He was ordained as a minister in the International Presbyterian Church in 2019, having trained at Oak Hill College, and before that he was a Geography Teacher in York.
We are committed to the principle of having more than one elder and so in due course we hope to raise up other elders to share the leadership.
Who We Are & What We Believe
If you’re considering coming, it can be helpful for you to know what kind of church we aim to be.
Christian and Evangelical
We’re a Christian church, believing in the ancient statements of faith such as the Apostles’ Creed. We’re also evangelical. We believe that God has a message of good news for the world, that Jesus Christ came into the world to save sinners through his death and resurrection. We believe the Bible is God’s inerrant word to us and so we aim to put it at the heart of everything we do. A concise summary of what we hold to be true can be found in the North West Gospel Partnership’s Doctrinal Basis.
Reformed
The word of God teaches much more than a concise doctrinal basis. And so, more fundamentally, we hold to the historic Reformed faith and subscribe to the Westminster Confession of Faith and the Westminster Shorter and Larger Catechisms as true and helpful expressions of what the Bible teaches. This is what the elders of the church and denomination subscribe to, so if you come here, you know what you’ll get taught and what our worship will look like.
A Congregation of the IPC
Hope Church is a plant of the International Presbyterian Church which is a family of churches holding shared doctrinal convictions and submitting to one another for care and accountability, each led by elders. The IPC was founded in 1954 through the ministry of Francis Schaeffer and has congregations across the UK, Europe and South Korea.
